The Grand Opening!!!! Or, well, The Opening! Because maybe it isn't quite so "grand" as "just kinda proppin' open the doors and seein' what happens and who drops by..."

Welcome to the blog!  Yes, the blog.  The "yet another outlet to satisfy all your procrastination and workplace escapism needs when all those other blogs and Wikipedia and Facebook and games just don't get you there anymore" blog.  (Or, y'know, this could also be your first choice -- I don't mind.)  This was supposed to open with much fanfare.  Like with cookies.  But unfortunately cookie dough is delicious, and due to completely predictable unforeseen circumstances the lil' baby cookie dough just didn't make it to its baked adulthood.  So I'm sorry: there are no cookies.

Lack of fanfare aside, I have not let it stop me from this (not so very) grand opening!  And with it I give you the greatest non-cookie gift of all: the Answer! (*)  The answer to the question that is currently on your mind:

"What the H-E-DoubleHockySticks is this blog?"

This blog is about new things! ...Only on a incredibly narrow scale.  It's not about inventing or anything half so clever.  It's not about new technology.  To be perfectly honest, it's really just about Me.  And to be perfectly specific, it's about this 'Me' person trying 217 New Things in 376 days.  And it's very likely that these new things have been done and tried and done by others before, but just not by myself.  So they're new to me.  And because this is a blog about Me and also by Me, I get to be completely subjective as to what exactly defines each new thing.  It could be a simple recipe I've never tried cooking before, or it could be something as grand or extravagant as learning to fly a plane (Note: I make no promises about actually attempting to fly any planes.).
